Hinduism is the dominant religion in India, practiced by nearly 80% of the population. Other major religions include Islam (about 14%), Christianity (about 2.3%), and Sikhism (about 1.7%). India is also the birthplace of Buddhism and Jainism, which have smaller numbers of followers.

Despite its rapid economic growth and development, India still faces various social, economic, and environmental challenges, such as poverty, illiteracy, and pollution. Nevertheless, the country has a large and growing middle class, presenting opportunities for continued progress and advancement.

The Indian Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, allowing citizens to practice and propagate their faith freely. However, certain states have enacted laws that restrict religious conversions, and there have been instances of religious intolerance and violence. In this complex landscape, praying for the continued protection and growth of a faithful Christian witness in India is essential.
