Genesis 18:19a

“For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice…”

This is one of those Scriptures that doesn’t need parsing out with words; it needs fleshing out with actions. Friend, God’s commission over Abraham’s life is the same as His commission over yours. Peter writes in 1 Peter 2:9a, “youare a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession,” so you also have been hand-picked by the God of the universe to walk in His ways and lead others along with you. As John admonished us in 1 John 2:6, “whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked,” a way that has always been designated by righteousness and justice. As Timothy exhorts us in 2 Timothy 2:22, “flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”

Remember: this little block of words you’re reading right now isn’t really your daily devotional; what you think, say, and do from here is. And you better believe that your heavenly Father, along with the people around you, are reading it closely today.
