The Choice is Yours
John 16:1 “I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away.”
My grandmother and grandfather bought me a Bible back when I was in middle school and I’ll never forget their little personal inscription on the inside cover: “This book will keep you from sin and sin will keep you from this book.” That sounded a bit too pithy when I was younger; but over time I’ve come to recognize and appreciate the importance of it. Isn’t it true that the older we get, the more we realize our need for God’s words every single day? Meditating on the Scriptures has a way of pushing the noise of worldly ambitions and fleshly lusts and devilish lies to the background while bringing the calming and loving heartbeat of God to the foreground.
So don’t drift away from the words of Christ today, friend. Let the world drift away instead.
