It is Well
Isaiah 25:8b
And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken.
My twin brother and I recently played a game of soccer with our young sons, Micah and Nicholas, and, during the game, our boys collided hard into each other. Thankfully, there wasn’t any blood or concussions, but both boys, being young, wailed in our arms for a few minutes before drying their tears and carrying on with the game. Although my son’s crying eventually stopped, the pain in his forehead lingered long into the evening. So it strikes me when reading Isaiah 25:8 that our perfect heavenly Father doesn’t merely wipe away our tears: He wipes away our pain as well. Marvel at that right now, friend. All the spiritual scar tissue you’ve built up over years of ministry; all those emotional wounds you’ve learned to live with silently; all those stinging, burning unanswered questions that tug at your heart on a daily basis; these will soon undergo the final metamorphosis of redemption.
When you stand before your Redeemer on that soon-coming day, it’s not that He’ll blot out your agony from the record, it’s that He’ll transform it into everlasting joy.
