A Little Oasis
Isaiah 11:9
They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
What knowledge would you say is filling the earth at present? It certainly isn’t the knowledge of the LORD, is it? It’s more like the knowledge of how to gain money and power, of how to frame lies in a tidy narrative to deceive others, of how to hide moral corruption under the guise of inclusion and equity, of how to follow personal appetites wherever they lead regardless of the cost, of how to love yourself, please yourself, and follow yourself with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, of how to sanctify the planet rather than your very soul, of how to lose the old-world order of obedience to God and accept the new-world order of political correctness.
Yet it strikes me here, friend, that our little lives can be an oasis in this vast desert of broken cisterns. As we walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh today, we’ll give our neighborhoods and jobsites and homes a little foretaste of that peace, love, and truth that will one day fill the world.
