Divine Awareness
John 5:30 “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.”
In that famous old sermon called Ten Shekels and a Shirt, the missionary-pastor of yesteryear, Paris Reidhead, speaks of meeting a Chinese believer who effectively remarked, “It saddens me how much the American church accomplishes without God.” What a tragic indictment against our innate American pride. If Christ, the incarnate Son, relied totally on His Father’s will, how can you and I do anything less? Friend, your lungs that are filtering oxygen this very second are borrowed. Your eyes that are currently reading and your mind that is busy analyzing thoughts are borrowed as well. In Philippians 4:13, the apostle Paul says that we can do ‘all things’ through Christ who gives us strength.
What can you accomplish today without Him?
