By the Sea

Mark 1:16
Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

Of all the places I visited in Israel, the small, unassuming Sea of Galilee was my favorite. Walking on the pebble beach, sailing through the gentle waves, driving along the serene hillsides; it’s hard to describe it really. The atmosphere felt so full of memory; even the breeze seemed to preserve whispers of unforgettable miracles. Here, Jesus will speak some of His most memorable words; here, He will calm a storm and walk on water and fill the mouth of a fish with a coin. But before all of that, He calls the commonest of men from the commonest of places and walks with them.

Today, by faith, walk with the Savior along those blessed shores of Galilee once more.
