A Way Out

A Way Out

Genesis 40:14

“Only remember me, when it is well with you, and please do me the kindness to mention me to Pharaoh, and so get me out of this house.”

Joseph wants out badly, friend, and you can feel the strain in his voice here. But I wonder: have you been there recently? Maybe you’ve been stuck in some dead-end job, praying for a career that will get you excited about waking up every morning, but the economy plummeted, and you’ve been working overtime to make ends meet. Or maybe you’ve been suffering some illness that’s required countless trips to doctors and specialists, ruined your retirement plans, and the tests have raised more questions than answers. Or maybe you’ve been witnessing the downward spiral of some loved one, and you’ve paid counselor bills, taken off work to watch the kids, and driven countless miles, but every little hope of progress keeps getting dashed. Maybe the same old routine is starting to feel like an Egyptian dungeon.

Let me encourage you in the Lord today: keep praying, keep hoping, and keep serving right where you are. When your story’s said and done, you’ll leave behind an incredible testimony of faithfulness for the next generation to read.
