Fear Not

Isaiah 10:24

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD of hosts: “O my people, who dwell in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrians when they strike with the rod and lift up their staff against you as the Egyptians did.”

The apostle Paul encouraged fellow believers in Philippians 3:20 with this thought: “Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body  to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.” Sadly, I tend to treat this truth like a winter coat in the middle of summer. Effectively, I tuck these threads of hope in the back of my mind and only pull them out when the blizzard is right outside my door. Well, as providence would have it, that time for me is now. So today, in order to conquer my own fear, I’m repeating this truth to myself: my home is Zion, not North Carolina. My ethnicity is Christian, not Caucasian. My citizenship is in Heaven, not America.

Christian, as the political climate continues to plummet all around you today, clothe your countenance in this ever-comforting, ever-enduring promise from your Father as well.
