The Journey Through Lamentations
The Wisdom Journey through Lamentations
The book of Lamentations is the prophet Jeremiah’s response to the Babylonian conquest and destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC. The prophet who had wept over his people’s sins and pleaded with them to repent in this book grieves over the disaster they brought upon themselves. Grief enters into all of our lives at some point. But it is the grief that could have been avoided that hits us the hardest. So it was for Jeremiah. Yet even in his grief over Jerusalem’s fall, the prophet reminds us of the hope that endures because we have a God of hope who is always faithful to His promises to us.
