When God disciplines his people, there are really two reasons for it. First, God's holiness demands that he deal with sin. But God also disciplines us for our own good. The consequences of our sins remind us that God truly is the Lord, and our lives are so much better when we submit to him. That's the only way we find true fulfillment.
