A Chain Reaction of Truth (Psalms 77-78)

Teaching the next generation to trust, obey, and follow God

12/02/2025 Stephen Davey

What does it take to raise the next generation to know and follow the Lord? Psalm 78 tells us it doesn’t happen by accident—it’s a chain reaction of truth. From one generation to the next, the truth of God’s works and His Word must be taught, lived out, and passed along.

In Psalm 77, Asaph wrestles with disappointment and discouragement, only to rediscover the faithful presence of God, even when God’s footsteps are hidden. His “I will” statements of trust show us how to talk ourselves back into hope. That renewed hope becomes a powerful testimony in Psalm 78 as Asaph urges God’s people to teach the next generation who God is, what He has done, and how to live by His commands.

This episode reminds us of our responsibility to hand off a legacy of faith, whether we are parents, grandparents, teachers, or friends. Children ask deep questions. They crave honest answers. The next generation is watching—will they see in us a faith worth following?
