Prayer for the Nations: Malawi

Introduction to Malawi:

Malawi, often called “The Warm Heart of Africa,” is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa with a population of over 20 million people. It is known for its friendly people, natural beauty, and deep religious identity. Most Malawians identify as Christian, and church attendance is high. However, many churches are marked by shallow teaching, prosperity gospel influences, and syncretism with traditional religious practices. Poverty, limited education, and health challenges; especially related to HIV/AIDS; affect daily life for millions. Yet God is at work through faithful evangelical pastors, missionaries, and believers who are committed to sharing the truth of the gospel and discipling others.

This week, we invite you to pray for Malawi. Ask God to strengthen His church, deepen the faith of believers, and bring lasting transformation through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Ways to Pray for Malawi:

  1. Pray for spiritual maturity, that Malawians would come to a clear and personal faith in Jesus.

  2. Ask God to raise up biblically faithful pastors and teachers, especially in rural villages.

  3. Pray against false teaching, particularly the influence of prosperity theology and superstition.

  4. Lift up young people, that they would be discipled well and grow strong in biblical truth.

  5. Intercede for Christian families, that they would be rooted in the Word and raise godly children.

  6. Pray for churches to become centers of both hope and truth, offering practical help and eternal hope.

  7. Ask God to bless Bible training centers and seminaries, preparing leaders for a lifetime of faithful ministry.

  8. Pray for those suffering from poverty and health crises, that they would find strength and peace in Christ.

  9. Lift up Christian missionaries and development workers, that they would serve with humility and impact.

  10. Pray for gospel access in every language and region, especially among unreached tribes.

  11. Ask God to unify evangelical churches, that they would cooperate in evangelism and discipleship.

  12. Pray for a spiritual awakening, that Malawi would be known not just for religious activity, but for deep, Christ-centered transformation.

Thank you for praying for Malawi this week. The soil is fertile for the gospel, and many are open to hearing the truth. Let’s ask God to send laborers into the harvest, to purify His church, and to raise up a generation of bold and faithful Christ-followers in Malawi.
