His Family Tree - Matthew 1:1-25
Originally preached on December 2017
In our Bibles, the various genealogies (or records of descent) can be challenging, so they’re often glossed over or even skipped. Names can be difficult to pronounce, and we sometimes think it’s better just to get to the meaningful parts. But knowing about the family tree of Jesus is meaningful. In Matthew’s recorded genealogy of Joseph, the man who adopted Jesus as his son, many characters show up that exemplify human depravity—and illustrate the amazing redemption of our gracious Lord. In this series, Pastor Davey will be focusing on this significant family tree and how this often-ignored list of names demonstrates God’s goodness, sovereignty, supremacy, and victory.
