Portraits of Biblical Failures - Various Passages

Originally preached on September 1991 – April 2004

The believer's life is a marathon; a race run not in cities on paved roads, but through sweltering jungles, over jagged cliffs and in lifeless deserts. Falling is likely, stumbling is certain. The winner is not the one with the quickest burst out of the gates, but the one who gets up when everyone else has given up. We who are running can learn from those who have finished. Some runners show us how to choose the right path, and others show us how to keep going after everyone has written us off as a failure. In this seven message series, Stephen examines six men who faltered...failed...but did not give up. Let these Portraits of Biblical Failures be an example as you move closer to the finish line!

Legacies of Light: Modern Heroes of the Faith

Originally preached on September 2013 – June 2019

The word of God is filled with biography – one character after another, parading across the stage of redemptive history.  It’s quite obvious that God loves to teach lasting lessons through the lives of individuals.  With that in mind, Stephen has undertaken a special biographical series, illustrating biblical truths through the lives of contemporary believers – men and women who provide for us a wonderful legacy of light.

    The Song - Selected Psalms

Originally preached on January – April 2014

There is no doubt why King David was the greatest hymn writer of all time. While his songs are inspired by God, they are also deeply personal, introspective, honest, and profoundly humble.  In this series, Stephen takes us on a riveting behind-the-scenes look at some of David’s most beloved compositions, and he reminds us that some of our brightest songs are borne out of the darkest places.

The Song, Volume 2 - Selected Psalms

Originally preached on September – December 2015

Part of what makes David’s Psalms so enriching is that they are as practical as they are personal. His lyrics are filled with words of wisdom that touch every aspect of our lives today – aspects like parenting, relationships, persecution, worship, purity, and more. Stephen brings us more life lessons from these inspired lyrics in Volume 2 of his brand new series, The Song: Compositions of King David.

  • Taking Marriage Up a Tree - Psalm 1

    Originally preached on June 2009

An orchid is a beautiful plant that produces a bloom that is rivaled by few. Yet, they are known for being healthy one day and dead the next. In reality, they just appeared healthy while all the while below the surface the roots were rotting and the plant was being cut off from the life-sustaining water and food it needs. So it can be with marriage. If we just look at appearances between a husband and a wife, we might be deluded into believing that all is well, when in fact the roots of the marriage that should be dug deep into Christ - the only sustainer of life and love.
