The Answer

Isaiah 14:32

What will one answer the messengers of the nation? “The LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people find refuge.”

Have you witnessed that disturbing, riotous trend taking place in our country over the last year? Angry crowds are showing up at the monuments of America’s founding fathers and defacing them, even destroying them. That’s right: men like Christopher Columbus and Thomas Jefferson and even Abraham Lincoln are being vilified and blacked out in the history books. But it strikes me here as I read Isaiah 14:32 that God, the Founding Father of earth and heaven, can’t be defaced or erased by history-revisionists. Wicked men have tried for years, but they’ve always failed; why? Because God isn’t just the Founder of earth and heaven, He’s the Finisher. So even if a crazed mob were to storm through the streets today, board up all the churches, burn all the Bibles, and throw every saint in prison, that wouldn’t mark Zion’s downfall, but His fresh uprising.

Christian, no matter what form your affliction takes today, look to Zion—to Jesus! He’s the Founder and Finisher of your faith, and your refuge in Him is eternally secure.
