Strong Words
Isaiah 11:4b
…and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.
Isn’t it amazing what God can accomplish with just a word? Listen to how Hebrews 4:12-13 describes it: “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.” Wow—no wonder Christ declared in Matthew 10:34 that He hadn’t come to bring peace, but a sword. Remember how those religious elites seethed with anger when He called them “whitewashed sepulchers,” or when He said to the lame beggar, “Your sins are forgiven you,” or when He made that definitive claim, “Before Abraham was, I am”? Jesus did strike the earth with the rod of His mouth; He did exorcise demons and crush the wicked with the breath of His lips.
And although generations have come and gone since then, His voice continues to resound across the corridor of time. His Word remains the measuring rod for all of life—especially ours.
