Sabbath Psalm To Be More Like You (from my upcoming album, ‘Kingdom Rising’)
To be rich in love and poor in heart
To be full of light in a world so dark
To speak truth to power and defend the weak
To know when to be silent and when to speak
To be more like You
More faithful and true
A refuge others can run into
To not bow to the crowds or be bribed by elites
To bleed prayers in Gethsemanes—not show off in the streets
To be pure in all motives, seeking only God’s will
To call out to the deluge and the devils, ‘Be still!’
To be more a man
More lion and lamb
A fighter with shepherd’s hands.
To rise up from the ground through the fires and floods
Through the earthquakes and heartaches—the frost and the mud
To endure every sorrow for a joy that won’t end
To seek first Your kingdom as it rises within!
To be more a son
And pray, ‘Thy will be done!’
Be a glimpse of Your kingdom come.
