Sabbath Psalm (December 20-21)
Sabbath Psalm (December 20-21)
(From my new song, “Love Lights a Song,” based on Psalm 42)
Deep calls to deep
Is faith a leap?
Feels more like drowning
Thirst, a gift at first
But more a curse
When I’ve lost grounding
I hear a voice calling me to wake up
I hear a voice calling me to rise
I hear a voice calling me to take up
My cross again
Even though I’ve fallen short after a thousand tries
Hope, my soul!
Why are you so downcast, oh?
You are not an outcast, no!
When the oceans roar
You’re spoken for
Raise your head
He won’t leave your faith for dead
You’re written in the wounds blood-red
When the night is long
Love lights a song
Oh, God You know I want to walk on water
And be a hero to my wife and daughters
And show my son just what it means to lead
And live a story they’d be proud to read
Sometimes Your Cup is just too hard to swallow
You walked a path that I’m too weak to follow
That crawl to Calvary has set the pace
But what if I give my all and still fall short of grace?
I hear a voice like a mighty river
Oh, I hear the wounds calling through the cries
I hear a song rising to deliver
My life again
The song that couldn’t be drowned out by all the devil’s lies!
