Sabbath Psalm 6

(from the song, ‘Ascend the Heights’)

Let my soul ascend; further up and in; higher than my faith has ever been. Let your voice resound; shake the sky and ground; carry me on wings of Cherubim. Take me nearer to Your heart; I can only see in part; and You feel so close but yet so far away. So this I pray:

Let me ascend the heights; till faith gives way to sight; Your face is all I want to see. And let me touch Your side; cast all my doubts aside; till I get lost in You and lose all thought of me.

My world is at war; shipwrecked on the shore; crying with one voice, “Oh Christ, restore!” Soldiers die in vain; orphans live unnamed; but till You come again I’m just as poor. Can You right back all the wrongs that have marred us for so long? Can you take me home with You where I belong? This is my song:

Let me ascend the heights; till faith gives way to sight; Your face is all I want to see! And let me touch Your side; cast all my doubts aside; let me get lost in You and lost all thought of me.
