Personal Words

John 20:15b-16 “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

In John 20, the apostle John recounts Christ’s resurrection in gripping fashion as we watch sorrowful Mary Magdalene remain at the empty tomb after Peter and John have returned home. Little does she know that one word is about to change everything. How it must have resonated along the stone wall and through the empty tomb; how it must have swept like wind through the olive trees and various plants in that garden; how it must have mended her broken heart in that very instant. It’s one thing to hear God speak; but to hear Him lovingly speak your name — that’s another thing entirely.

Believer, by faith, take your sorrow in hand today and run with Mary to that empty tomb. The Divine Gardener has a message with your name on it!
