Hope for Today
John 17:13b “And these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.”
“Why are you cast down, O my soul?” David cried out in Psalm 43; “Hope in God.” He speaks for all of us here, doesn’t he? Sometimes we don’t even know why we feel down. It could be hormones or chemical imbalances; it could be anxiety or stress; it could be the pressures of life in a fallen world. Maybe you’re there right now, friend, and to be honest, I’m there as well even as I write these words. But then I hear Jesus’ voice in John 17:13; I hear Him pray to the Father on my behalf, that my joy may be full within me. Suddenly, like David of old, my countenance is lifted and I feel that Wellspring of Life bubbling up once again beneath the surface.
Christian, let hope lead your way today. Your feelings will eventually come around.
