Follow the Leader

John 10:4 “When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.”

In John 10:1-21, Jesus gives His unforgettable analogy of the ‘Good Shepherd’ as a way of condemning the Pharisees as false leaders, but within these lines are important reminders for us as God’s people. Today, reflect on what it means that the Good Shepherd goes on ‘ahead of the sheep’. Haven’t you noticed that no matter where you go in life, and no matter what you experience, Christ has already gone on before you? There is no corner of the universe, no crevice of your own internal suffering, no dark-forest path of betrayal or persecution or sorrow through which Jesus has not already blazed a trail.

Little lamb, wherever your Shepherd calls you today, go courageously in the knowledge that He has already made a way for you.
