Isaiah 30:9a-10

For they are a rebellious people, … who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophecy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions.”

I literally just opened up a news clip for a few brief seconds and saw a heading that read (I’ll keep it vague): “So-and-so leader begs such-and such media outlet to stop covering the you-name-it crisis”. But even that isn’t as bad as the one I read just yesterday: “The so-and-so administration asks the such-and-such journalists to spin the fill-in-the-blank failure in a positive light.” You can’t make this stuff up! Reality’s becoming a fantasy-land; even a freak show! And it’s happening all around us, in our own cities, in our own schools, in our own boardrooms, tragically even in our own churches. But that’s just it: self-deception never ends with self. Like any deadly virus, it needs new hosts, growing ever thirstier, ever greedier, ever nastier as it spreads through society.

But Christian, we have the antidote right here in our laps. And it just takes one prophet, one preacher, one person of good faith to stand up to the swaying blob of nodding heads and proclaim the truth. Look how far Isaiah’s voice has reached! Yours can too.
